Budget EG Suspension Upgrade: Eibach to the rescue!

By Brian Gillespie

Since you’ve last seen Project Budget EG (Budget K aka Project Low-Budget Civic aka White Lightnin’) the car has competed in Super Street’s FF Battle Presented by Continental Tire. It was in the Street Class, but we knew the mystery eBay coilover sleeves were not going to be any kind of match for the kind of competition we would see there so, a super sweet set of Tein coilovers were put on and we headed to the track. You can see how our Budget EG fared against everyone here.

Tein coilovers were great for the track, but they didn’t fit the overall goal of this build. Enter Eibach’s Sport System Plus which includes Eibach’s Sportline Springs, Pro-Dampers and Anti-Roll Kit for what should be an aggressive street setup that will also work on the track. This should be the perfect combination of handling and daily driving comfort. No, it won’t feel like your mom’s new Pilot, but it also won’t turn your spine into a pile of mush. Every part of the kit is meant to compliment the other parts so spring rates and rebound are matched to take the guesswork out of the equation.

This upgrade in suspension is something that can easily be accomplished in an afternoon and we can’t wait to take it back out to Musselman Honda Circuit to see how the improvement translates into lap times. We think Aaron’s B series hatchback is about to get schooled. Stay tuned!

Nothing but Hondas. That’s exactly what you’ll find at VTEC Academy. Not because some of the other automakers’ cars that inherently drain the life out of the driving experience bore us, but because Soichiro Honda’s passion for motorsports and his company’s ability to express that in the machines they produce make a whole lot of sense.

VTEC Academy is a place for Honda fans who feel the same way and who seek the most accurate technical information and commentary to continue that very legacy and make whatever Honda it is that they drive just a little bit better. And faster.

The editors and contributors of VTEC Academy are some of the industry’s most experienced and trusted, which means the informative, unique perspectives you need are all right here. And, like you, we’re also obsessed with Hondas.
