How to Wire Your K Swap Adapter Harness for use with KTuner: Demystifying the wiring for a successful engine swap.

By Brian Gillespie

When you’re doing a K series engine swap in your Civic or Integra, you have two common choices for engine management. Hondata or KTuner. Regardless of which one you choose you’ll need an adapter harness. Most of the adapter harnesses are built for use with the Hondata K-Pro. In this video we show you how to convert those adapter harnesses for use with the KTuner ECU.

It’s really not that hard. Brian shows you step by step how to make the changes and explains why. If you are interested in buying the tools we used for the modifying the harness there’s a list below the video. Better yet, here’s a link for purchasing everything on Amazon.

Razor knife – You can’t have too many of these. Unless you’re unemployed and you spent your last dollar on them. You shouldn’t have done that. You can buy them at any hardware or crafts store for a buck or two. They have a long blade with segments so you can snap off used dull ends to get a fresh point to keep cutting easily.

1 millimeter terminal tool – This tool comes in a kit with four other terminal tools. If you do a lot or wiring, you should buy the kit. If not, you can just buy a 1mm wide slot head screw driver like the Wiha screwdriver. It works very well as a terminal tool.

Straight pick tool – Don’t use your terminal tool to pry up the locks. You’ll bend it. The pick tools come in sets of four with a straight, hook, right angle and 45 degree ends. You can get cheap plastic handled ones at your local hardware store or these fancy ones with rubber handles. I have both, several sets of both. They bend, they break, they’re cheap and they work just fine.

Scotch Super 33+ – Don’t cheap out on tape. It’s available at Home Depot for a good price and Amazon for a meh price. I’ve been building harnesses for 20 years and this stuff lasts.

Below is a link to my KTuner conversion cheat sheet. It’s a list of the instructions step by step that you can print out or download onto your phone.
