Part 1 The Civic Type R K20C Tech Inspection

By Brian Gillespie

Where’d You Get that Engine

For those of you just tuning in, you’re probably wondering how we got a K20C from a Type R. Well, we bought a Type R and pulled the engine out. Why? So we could take a closer look at it and see what all the fuss is about. Join us as we look over the engine, figure out what makes it tick and discuss the new K20 turbo motor that will be coming in the 2018 Accord. Is it the same or not?

The new Civic is also available with the L15B7 turbo engine. The K20C’s little brother that’s making huge waves with tuners. We do a quick comparison. Are they the same size? Are the electronics the same? What are the differences? For the answer to these and many more question, click on the video below and see what we saw.

VTEC Academy is a place for Honda fans who feel the same way and who seek the most accurate technical information and commentary to continue that very legacy and make whatever Honda it is that they drive just a little bit better. And faster.

The editors and contributors of VTEC Academy are some of the industry’s most experienced and trusted, which means the informative, unique perspectives you need are all right here. And, like you, we’re also obsessed with Hondas.
